newSuspect event does not provision Node

piotr.ciechonski
Hello,

I'm sending newSuspect event using send-event.pl script.

/opt/opennms/bin/send-event.pl --interface 10.99.1.34 uei.opennms.org/internal/discovery/newSuspect

Event is present in Events list in GUI. I can see also the entry in provisiond.log

2017-03-08 10:05:01,820 DEBUG [Provisiond:EventListener-Thread] o.o.n.e.EventIpcManagerDefaultImpl: run: calling onEvent on Provisiond:EventListener for event uei.opennms.org/internal/discovery/newSuspect dbid 10093 with time 2017-03-08T10:05:01.000+0100

But the Node is never provisioned.
In case of sending trap from unknown IP address the newSuspect event is automatically generated by system and the Node is provisioned correctly.

What am I doing wrong or what should be change to this newSuspect event starts to work and provision Node?
I'm using 19.0.1 opennms.

Regards,
Piotr

Re: [opennms-discuss] newSuspect event does not provision Node

Hi Piotr,

this is a known bug in version 19.0.1.  Please see https://issues.opennms.org/browse/NMS-9108 for details.

As a workaround, you can add the event parameter location with value "Default". This should do the job:

/opt/opennms/bin/send-event.pl \
  --interface 10.99.1.34 \
  --parm 'location Default' \
  uei.opennms.org/internal/discovery/newSuspect

Hope, that helps...

Best regards

Michael
